FAQ's
Most kids begin to show gradual improvement within 2 to 4 months of consistent nightly use. That said, it usually takes a full 6 months of wear to retrain muscle memory and encourage lasting heel-to-toe walking. Every child is a little different, but consistency is what makes the difference.
This brace is for nighttime use only. Your child should wear it while sleeping, for 6 to 8 hours every night. Using it nightly is key for results—skipping nights can delay progress.
In general, nighttime-only bracing may be recommended for 6-12 months, while full-time bracing often ranges from 6 months to 2 years based on the child’s unique case.
Shoes cannot be worn with the overnight brace. If daytime bracing is prescribed, shoes can be fitted by the orthotist over the brace.
Yes, that’s completely normal—and actually intended. The brace focuses support around the heel and ball of the foot. As long as the foot is positioned correctly and straps are snug, the toes extending beyond the front is expected.
Start with one brace for the first week. Once your child adjusts, begin using the second brace on the opposite foot. Using both together maximizes alignment and retraining.
Some initial adjustment is totally normal. Make sure socks are smooth, the heel is seated firmly, and straps aren’t too tight. If your child consistently wakes in discomfort, reach out to our support team—we’re here to help troubleshoot.
How to Use the Pediatric Toe Walking Night Brace
What’s in the Kit?
You’ll receive two braces—one for each foot. Start with one brace for the first week to let your child adjust, then introduce the second brace after that. How to Fit the Brace:
- Begin with just one brace during the first week
- Make sure your child’s knee is bent at a 90° angle
- Slide their heel firmly into the back of the brace
- Tighten the ankle strap snugly (to prevent movement overnight)
- Secure the shin strap to keep the leg in place
Usage Guidelines:
- Wear the brace nightly for 6–8 hours
- Stay consistent for a minimum of 6 months
