How Our Custom Orthotics Are Made for the Mikki™ & Andy™ Devices

At Pediatric Orthotics, every pair of orthotics we create is custom-made for your child—no templates, no shortcuts. Whether you’ve ordered the Mikki Device™ for Sever’s disease or the Andy Device™ for flat feet, the process starts the moment you send your child’s foot molds back to us.

1. Creating the Cast

In our lab, we begin by making a plaster cast from the molds you provided. This gives us an exact replica of your child’s foot structure.

2. Correcting and Customizing

We inspect the cast and correct any minor mold issues. Then, we modify it specifically for your child’s condition—whether we’re offloading pressure for heel pain (Mikki Device) or adjusting for arch alignment (Andy Device).

3. Forming the Orthotic Shell

Next, we form a durable orthotic shell directly from the corrected cast. This ensures a perfect fit and proper support for your child’s unique foot shape.

4. Precision Shaping

Each orthotic is hand-shaped to match the correct heel angle and height. We tailor this to your child’s specific diagnosis—not just their foot size.

5. Specialized Additions

Depending on your child’s needs, we may add pads, cutouts, or other comfort-focused features that support healing and improve function.

6. Finishing and Shipping

Finally, we apply top and bottom covers for comfort and durability. Once complete, the orthotics are carefully packed and shipped directly to your home.

The Importance Of This Process

This detailed process ensures that your child receives a high-quality, custom-made solution—not a one-size-fits-all insert. Our goal is simple: help kids get back to being kids—running, playing, and living pain-free.

Whether your child is pushing through heel pain from Sever’s disease or struggling with arch fatigue and flat feet, our devices are carefully crafted to support healing while fitting seamlessly into daily life.
